SEO for Tampa law firms

The most valuable search terms we work on, and among the least contested in this market. That combination does not last.

What a click is worth here

Advertisers bid more for legal search in Tampa than for anything else we touch: several times what a contractor pays, and an order of magnitude above a restaurant. That is not a quirk of the auction. It is the market pricing what a signed case is worth.

The useful part is that the organic competition has not caught up. Firms ranking today are mostly there on age and domain authority rather than on anything deliberate, which means the terms are reachable in months rather than years. We would rather tell you that now, while it is true, than after three more firms notice.

One page per practice area, always

The most common mistake we see in legal sites is a single "Practice Areas" page listing eight things. It ranks for none of them, because someone searching for an estate plan and someone searching after a crash are not the same person and will not accept the same page.

Each area gets its own page, written for how that client actually arrives. Someone looking for estate planning is deliberate, researching over weeks, comparing credentials. Someone who was rear-ended yesterday is in pain, on a phone, and calling whoever answers. Those two pages should barely resemble each other.

  • Personal injury and auto accidents: the most contested and most valuable
  • Estate planning, probate and elder law
  • Family law and divorce
  • Immigration
  • Criminal defence
  • Business and real estate

Intake decides whether any of this pays

We have watched firms rank well and still lose the case, because the call went to voicemail at 5:10pm or the web form took two days to reach anyone. In categories where a client calls three firms and retains the one that responds, ranking is only the first half of the work.

So we look at what happens after the click: how fast the phone is answered, whether the form reaches a person, what the after-hours path is. If that side is broken we will say so before you spend anything on rankings, because fixing intake is usually cheaper and always faster.

Reviews and advertising rules

Legal is the one category where the usual review advice needs adjusting. Confidentiality constrains what a client can be asked to say, and some matters no client wants their name attached to. Volume still matters for the map pack, but the process has to be built around what is appropriate for your practice areas.

Attorney advertising is also regulated. The Florida Bar sets rules on what a firm site can claim, what needs a disclaimer, and what requires review before publication. We build to what your compliance requires and we would rather have that conversation before writing than during your review. But we are a web studio, not your compliance counsel, and final sign-off is yours.

Questions

Law Firms: common questions

How competitive is Tampa legal search?

Less than you would expect for a metro this size, and much less than Miami or Orlando for most practice areas. Personal injury is the exception. It is contested everywhere and it is the one area where we would set a twelve-month expectation.

Do we need to blog?

Not for its own sake. What works is depth on the questions clients actually ask before they call: what a case is worth, how long it takes, what it costs, what happens first. Ten pages that answer those beat a hundred posts about legal news nobody searches for.

What about Google Screened and Local Services Ads?

For several practice areas they sit above everything else on the page and are worth pursuing in parallel with organic. They are a separate paid channel with their own vetting process; we will tell you where it applies to your areas and where it does not.

Can you work with our compliance requirements?

Yes, and it is better raised at the start. Tell us what your firm requires for disclaimers, claims and review, and we build to it. Final approval of published copy stays with you.

Scope

This page is written for the Tampa Bay market. It is a local engagement, and local search terms move in months rather than years. See SEO in Tampa for how that work runs.
